I am leaving tomorrow. At 4 a.m. That’s 2 a.m. Costa Rican time, by the way.
After about six months of answering the same questions over and over (Are you nervous? Excited? Packed?), preparing document after document for my school, our government, and their government, multiple shopping trips for tropical-weather-appropriate clothing and other traveling essentials...I am so ready to get the show on the road.
Do not get me wrong, I am going to miss my family. I am going to miss my church community. I am going to miss out on a whole year of school with my beloved friends. I am going to miss Chicago. But, seriously, it is time. I’m not even excited anymore...not scared, not nervous, not anything. Well, I am a little restless.
The most exciting news is I finally received news about my host family. I will be living with Elida-65, Gustavo-38, Marcela-30, and little Gustavo, 3. Three generations under one roof--a very typical Costa Rican living situation. I was really wanting a family with a little kid. After almost two years with Braylen, it would seem strange to not have a small child in the house. I am determined to be Gustavo, Jr.’s favorite tîa gringa. (Look it up!)
Thanks again for your prayers. I hope you enjoy reading about my adventures!
I have no doubt you'll be the favourite...with the whole family. I'm glad you're there, safe and sound. Enjoy enjoy, enjoy! I can't wait to read all about it and live vicariously!!
